What is your job here at MVNU?
I am the GPS Technical Support Specialist. I insure that all the off-campus sites, including Hunter Hall, have IT coverage. I also work in the Helpdesk and help with troubleshooting, password reset, etc.

Where are you from?
I am from the small village of Coldwater, Ohio. I have been in Mount Vernon for the past 5 years so I would call Mount Vernon my second home.

Education Information (college attended, major, how you got into IT)
I graduated from MVNU in 2014 with a Management major and a Marketing minor. I have been tech savvy my entire life. When I came to college I got a job working at the Helpdesk as a student tech under John Todd.

Best book you’ve read in the last year
When I was homeschooled I read dozens of books a year. However since I started high school I have not been able to read as much as I would like. Although I am about to start reading “Ready Player One.”

Favorite movie and favorite movie quote
Favorite movie: The Dark Knight Rises. Favorite TV quote: “Guess what? I have flaws. What are they? Oh I dunno, I sing in the shower? Sometimes I spend too much time volunteering. Occasionally I'll hit somebody with my car. So sue me-- no, don't sue me. That is opposite the point I'm trying to make.” – Michael Scott, The Office

If you could have any Superhero ability/power, what would it be?
Super Speed. Then I would not need a vehicle to travel and I could time travel if I wanted to.

Join the Mother Ship!

MotherBoard is always willing to accept applications for employment and will gladly meet with you in person to discuss possible job availability. Follow these steps to apply to become a MOBO

  1. Fill out an application for employment on MVNU’s HR site found here
  2. Contact Josh at ext. 5551 and schedule an appointment to come down to meet the staff and interview.
  3. Bring any Resume, references, or job history with you.

The qualifications that we look for in students to work in the MotherBoard office are:

  1. A servants heart - We are constantly bombarded with urgent requests for support and help and we challenge the stereotype of technical support by providing person-centered care.
  2. Flexibility - things can change at a moment’s notice in the HelpDesk and we want to find students who can maintain an even keel if asked to drop what they had planned to do at a moments notice.
  3. An eagerness to learn - Being part of an educational institution, we feel the importance to know technology is best taught through experience and on-hand learning. For this reason, we don’t look only for Technology Majors, but anyone interested and willing to learn about computers.
