The library and technology staff are pleased to provide 30 tablet and notebook computers as a first step in our paradigm shift to collaborative learning spaces and mobile computing.  This "mobile lab" consists of 12 tablets, 12 PC notebooks, and 6 MAC notebooks.

Go to library circulation and provide picture I.D. The maximum circulation period for employees is 7 days.  For students they must return the computer to the library before closing time on the same day.  We ask that in deference to other patrons, you return the computer as soon as possible but keep it no longer than 7 days.

More Than One computer Circulation  Top of page

Contact the Technical Response Center (TRC) at trc@mvnu.edu at least 24 hours (i.e., one business day) before your need.  TRC student technicians will deliver the computers to the location you specify 10 minutes in advance and will return to collect them at the time you specify if within normal working hours of the TRC.  In your request to the TRC, you must specify the following information:

* Use of the technology is restricted to short-term mission-centric, business-related activities.  They are not for personal use.
* Picture I.D. is required.  Maximum circulation is 7 days for employees.  Please return it as soon as possible.
* If a computer leaves the library, it will be accompanied by a bag and a power adapter, all of which are your responsibility.
* No reservations may be made in advance except for classroom use.

Additional Guidelines for More Than One Computer  Top of page

* Make requests through the TRC at least 24 hours in advance, 48 hours or more is preferred.
* We ask that requests be limited to quantity 8.  Requests for more than 8 must be approved by the Director of ITS.
* The TRC will make the reservation on your behalf and in your name.  If they are unavailable, the TRC will notify you immediately.
* TRC student technicians will set up and tear down if between 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday, and Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Outside this time it is your responsibility.
* The mobile lab is not intended as a replacement for scheduling classrooms with fixed computers like LLRC 38, FEBC 103, or FO208.

Printing

The laptops are setup to print only in the Library at the following locations:

How do I know to which printer my document has printed?   Top of page

1.  Go to Start>Printer and Faxes
2. The printer with the check mark beside it is the default printer. This is where your document will be printed unless you select another printer in the File>Printer window of the application you are using.

How do I print a document?  Top of page

1. First, you need to logon to the network. Double-click on the Novell Logon icon (red letter N) on the desktop.
2. At the Novell Logon screen, put in your network/email username and password, then click OK.
3. Now you should be able to print from any application by going to File<Print.

How do I select a different printer?  Top of page

1. In any application, go to File (or Office Button)>Print.
2. In the Print window, for Printer Name, click on the drop-down arrow and select the printer.
3. Click OK to print.
4. The Print Job Billing window will popup. Select the appropriate Client code and click Print.
